Helping Credit Unions Serve, Grow and Remain Strong.
About us
Organized in 1934, the Michigan Credit Union League (MCUL) has a proud tradition of innovation and leadership among the nation’s credit union trade associations. Thanks in no small part to the efforts of the MCUL, the history of the Michigan credit union movement is one of growth, success and progress. Through membership in the MCUL, Michigan credit unions receive important services such as legislative, regulatory and media advocacy; a stream of timely and vital news and information; access to key education and training programs; direct assistance with critical operational and planning issues; and a host of other products, services and programs designed exclusively to meet the unique individual and collective needs of credit unions.

"Our founding advocates and organizers didn’t have the tools we have now. They didn’t have coordinated networks, digital platforms or listservs. Messages directly sent to Congress weren’t just one click away. What they did have was purpose and the will to show up. Today, we still have that purpose — and now we also have the tools that make our voice louder and our reach broader and the networks to learn from and connect with each other. That’s not something to take lightly. It’s something to lean into." Read the latest Patty's Desk: https://lnkd.in/gYXXxGr8

The storm is over, but the impact is far from gone. In Northern Michigan, the effects of the devastating ice storm are still being felt. Downed trees, damaged homes and weeks-long disruptions have left many families struggling to move forward. Each and every donation goes a long way: https://lnkd.in/geCGCf9g

Our not-for-profit structure and mission are under attack. Credit unions exist to serve people, not shareholders, and that difference is what makes us so impactful in our communities. But now, that model is being threatened. Check out our "Don’t Tax My Credit Union" Resource Hub to help you stand up and speak out. This hub, which includes a video message from MCUL CEO Patty Corkery, gives you the tools to educate your team, rally support and most importantly, make your voice heard with lawmakers. https://lnkd.in/gh4XyFnH

"This isn’t about asset size. It’s about mission. Our tax status isn’t a loophole — it’s what allows us to reinvest in members instead of shareholders, to serve Main Street instead of Wall Street. And when lawmakers hear from us, they need to know the truth behind the noise: credit unions serve more than 140 million Americans, 6 million of whom are here in Michigan, and we’re here to fight for them. That fight starts at home…with each of us." Read the latest Patty's Desk: https://lnkd.in/g9CaZVhj
